The Wilder thinks Old World in Fort Lauderdale

The Wilder

701 E. Broward Blvd., Fort Lauderdale, 954-523-4050,

The owners of Rhythm & Vine lounge and Growlers and Howlers beer bar have premiered yet another nightspot, this one sophisticated and upscale.

“The Wilder ensures every palate will find its respective match with its menu of layered, complex cocktails,” says Vanessa Cardaci, owner with husband, David.

Highlights include Don’t Sleep on Me with rum, vanilla liqueur and taro milk tea, and Live Up to My Name with tequila, Velvet Falernum, pineapple, lime, cilantro, jalapeno and chipotle chocolate (both $14).

Small plates are served nightly, such as hearts of palm lettuce cups ($12), spicy panko-encrusted chicken sliders ($12) and short-rib poutine ($15).

Their travels, such as to Monaco and the Chateau Marmont hotel in Los Angeles, inspired the Old-World atmosphere with coffered wood walls aged by a local artist, juxtaposed by peacock-colored velvet banquettes and a tropical-painted hallway. A DJ spins Thursdays through Sundays.

“Our vision is to transport our guests back to their favorite boutique hotel,” Cardaci says. “Through an elevated design, flavors and vibrant sounds, we’re creating a haven to gather, party and ultimately escape to an unventured destination.”

A patio features a central yellow tabebuia tree, patterned tile and a backdrop of trees behind mauve banquettes.
