Jane Hart, the influential former curator at the Art and Culture Center of Hollywood, wants you to dig her new albums. On the wall at Girls' Club Collection in Fort Lauderdale, Hart's framed "Jukebox Collages" are inspired by classic album covers by the Sex Pistols, the Youngbloods, Donovan and other acts. To make them, Hart, whose artist handle is TJ Ahearn, pastes cutouts over original slipcovers, taken from her large collection of 1960s and '70s rock and punk albums. Her Sex Pistols-inspired collage "God Save the Queen" assembles images of Queen Elizabeth II, a bar of gold and the infamous 1976 British tabloid headline, "The Filth and the Fury." Hart's aquatic collage "Atlantis" a nod to 1960s folk-rocker Donovan, bears cutouts of squid, starfish and octopuses. South Florida psychedelic-rock duo Pocket of Lollipops will perform July 30 during the exhibit's opening, which coincides with the monthly FAT Village art walk.
