This week on South Florida stages: Burt Reynolds for one night only

Here are three shows you shouldn’t miss on South Florida theater stages this week.


In this musical comedy about a chaotic wedding staged by Actors’ Playhouse, the two families are miles apart (one Jewish, the other Catholic) and so are the bride and groom (in the most surprising way).

When: May 17-June 11; 8 p.m. Wednesdays-Saturdays; 3 p.m. matinee Sundays (and 2 p.m. Wednesday, May 24)

This R-rated show of illusions and prestidigitation stars Christopher Wayne and Mike Tyler, best friends and well-known magicians in Australia. Wayne had his own TV show, "More Than Magic," and is a popular comedy writer. Tyler is considered one of the best close-up magicians Down Under, performing more than 250 shows a year as a magician, mentalist and hypnotist.

Movie icon Burt Reynolds will talk about his career, share some clips from some of his 200 films (including “Boogie Nights,” “Deliverance,” “The Longest Yard” and “The Cannonball Run”) and do a question and answer with the audience.
