Drink wine and learn to paint with new Corks and Canvases class in Miami

Learning to paint is often a lot of fun, but if you put some wine on the palette, then you just might have a party.

That’s what the Atton Brickell Miami hotel is hoping for with its Corks and Canvases classes, held on the third Thursday of every month starting Sept. 20. Participants can enjoy unlimited wine and prosecco in 90-minute classes that will be taught by Felipe Lagos, a professional artist and owner of Paint Vibes Studio in Miami.

“I don’t think you can go wrong with a little music and a little bit of wine,” Lagos says. “You splash it with a little bit of paint, and I think that’s a great recipe.”

Corks and Canvases starts at 8 p.m. at the Atton Brickell Miami, 1500 SW First Ave. Tickets cost $50 and include the vino, the tutorial and supplies (paint, canvases, brushes). To order, go to

Lagos says that while he has done a few BYOB classes over the past five years, “This is the first time I’ve done it on a bigger scale for an audience at a hotel.”

Lagos, who emigrated from Chile 20 years ago and studied at the New World School of the Arts, says, “I wanted to bring the community together. The best thing I had to offer was my knowledge of the arts and inspire people to create. For me, that’s very important, to create.”
